Private Coaching: It’s Your Whole Life

What does it mean to be successful? Many of us define success according to our professional accomplishments and the “trappings” they afford. But this definition can be self-limiting and leave us feeling unfulfilled, confused, and even depressed.

Private coaching with a seasoned, empathetic professional provides a context in which executives can explore issues that may be preventing them from being not only successful professionals, but also contented, well-rounded human beings.

Work-life Integration Is Possible

Balancing different aspects of our lives is challenging. But with support and guidance, integration is possible. For some executives, work-life integration can be as simple as regular exercise or a meditation practice; for others it’s pursuing an interest in painting, writing or other creative endeavors. For still others, integration may mean transitioning from a current career to one that supports their values and passion, and provides more family and personal time.

We can find ourselves stuck in a system where people play the roles of persecutor, rescuer and victimDuring the private coaching process, clients uncover new insights in strategies for work and life and learn to meet their responsibilities, needs and desires with grace. All sessions are completely confidential. This allows clients to speak their hearts and minds.

A licensed psychologist, executive coach, leadership expert, and former corporate executive, Dr. Melinda Hodell is ideally suited to help private coaching clients:

  • Find more satisfaction and inspiration
  • Align personal and professional goals
  • Address problems in the family
  • Overcome depression and anxiety
  • Face life transitions with courage and resiliency
  • Integrate addiction recovery with professional life

Full-time Mom and VP Finds Time for Herself

A wife and mom, Sally worked more than full-time as a vice president in a large organization. She was coping reasonably well, until the trouble with her boss started. Stress at work was exacerbated by the stress of raising two adolescents. Sally was exhausted and emotionally drained.

In her private coaching sessions, Sally acknowledged that she’d been putting her high-powered job and family demands before her own health and wellbeing. Dr. Hodell helped her plan a career move, and Sally transferred to a new job in the same company that allowed her to take better care of herself. Regular workouts with a fitness trainer Dr. Hodell referred her to, a more compatible boss, and a calmer home life have reenergized Sally.

From Rehab to Recovery

Single and ambitious, Mike had recently completed a stay at a rehabilitation center where he was treated for alcoholism. He’d been on disability and was worried about returning to work—what to say to his colleagues and how to navigate life—and his job—sober.

He feared he wouldn’t be able to manage his stress without drinking again. Dr. Hodell counseled Mike during this critical time in his recovery. He learned new ways of communicating with co-workers and strategies for managing daily stress. Daily meditation and support group meetings keep him sober, happy and productive.
